Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara is pleased to announce the lineup for this year’s Take Flight Wine Dinner Series. Featuring well-known vintners as well as up-and-coming innovators in the wine world, the Take Flight Wine Dinner series will pair some of their finest selections with exquisite cuisine from Executive Sous Chef Marc Kusche.
This year, in a unique addition to the series, a special San Diego Craft Beer-and-Cheese tasting has been scheduled featuring some of the region’s most notable brews! At each event, guests will have the opportunity to mingle with and learn from a guest speaker knowledgeable about the featured label. These popular evenings will begin with a reception followed by a sit-down dinner (with the exception of the beer tasting event). This year’s schedule is as follows:
Monday, April 28 – Antinori
With over six centuries of wine-making experience, the world-renowned Antinori family is at the forefront of Italian wines, with original estates in the famed Tuscan and Umbrian countryside. Guests will be joined by Alessia Botturi, a professionally qualified sommelier of the Italian Sommelier Association and Antinori’s Business Development Manager. She is also President of the North American Sommelier Association, the best renowned authority of Italian Wines in the United States. A four-course dinner, including dessert, will follow the reception. The cost is $75.00
per person. The evening begins at 5:30 pm.
Tuesday, May 20 – Failla
Winemaker Ehren Jordan of this Napa Valley boutique winery will be joining us for a very exclusive dinner. With grapes sourced from both Sonoma and Napa valleys, Failla’s wines reflect the winemaker’s love for experimenting with favorite varietals, highlighting characteristics from different climates, soil types and rootstock. Among the vintner’s offerings include Rhône-style Syrahs, Chablis-like Chardonnays and Burgundian Pinot Noirs. A four-course dinner, including dessert, will follow the reception. The cost is $69.00 per person. The evening begins at 5:30 pm.
Wednesday, June 25 – Napa vs. Sonoma
The debate among gourmands and oenophiles continues to rage on: Which reigns supreme – Napa Valley or Sonoma Valley wines? Decide for yourself at this educational evening, where you will have the chance to sample a range of red and white varietals from both. With the guidance from a wine expert, you’ll explore styles and regions while enjoying California-inspired fare from Chef Kusche. A three-course dinner, including dessert, will follow the reception. The cost is $69.00 per person. The evening begins at 5:30 pm.
Monday, July 28 – The Best of San Diego Beer & Cheese
In this trade-show style tasting, indulge in some of the area’s finest craft beers. We’ll be hosting Stone Brewing Company, Ballast Point Brewing Company, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, and Saint Archer Brewing Company; all will be sharing a selection of their ales, lagers and other treats. To complement the beers, stroll over to a cheese and charcuterie station featuring delectables from local cheese monger, Venissimo. Passed hors d’oeuvres and a dessert selection will also be offered. The event begins at 4:00 pm and costs $39.00 per person.
Wednesday, August 27 – Murphy-Goode
This Napa-based winery is a family business founded in 1985. Featuring a wide range of varietals with grapes sourced throughout California – including Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Monterey counties — Murphy-Goode originally made a name for itself with its Chardonnays and Fume Blanc. The winery has since branched out and is now proudly crafting world-class Bordeaux varieties in addition to Pinot Noirs, Zinfandels and other whites. The evening, which begins at 5:30 pm with a reception, includes a three-course dinner. The cost is $65.00 per person.
